5th ¡Presente! Conference Set for February 25-26, 2022 at UC Riverside - “Homecoming”


La Familia de UCR, Chicano Student Programs, and the LGBT Resource Center of UC Riverside invite you to join Un Espacio For Our QT Community at the 5th ¡Presente! Conference on February 25-26, 2022. Our conference theme is “Homecoming!” as we celebrate connections made by conference participants over the years and return to an in-person event.

The ¡Presente! Conference is a queer college conference with a focus on people who identify as part of the Latin/South/Central American diaspora, including but not limited to  Afro-Indigenous, Afro-Latinx, Brown, Latinx, Chicanx, and Indigenous people. People of all genders and sexualities are welcome to apply to attend.

 

The Call for Workshops/Presentations is now open, with online submissions due December 15, 2021. The online Application/Registration form will open in January 2022 for those wishing to attend Saturday's events. Anyone who submits a workshop or presentation program proposal will have their registration fee waived if accepted to attend, regardless of whether their proposal is approved. Friday’s events are open to all without registration required. The workshop/program submission deadline has been extended to January 14, 2020.

 

UCR has hosted the ¡Presente! Conference since 2017 with over 30 campuses represented. Participants' cultural backgrounds included Afro-Colombian, Afro-Indigenous, Afro Latina, Afro-Mexican, Apache, Bolivian, Brazilian, Brown, Brown Chapinx,  Central American, CentroAmericanx, Chicana, Chicano, Chicanx, Chilean, Colombian, Costa Rican, Cuban, Dominican, Ecuadorian, Ecuadorian American, Guatemalan, Guatemanteca, Hispanic, Hispanic Mexican, Honduran, Indigenous, Latina, Latiné, Latino, Latinx, Mayan, Mestiza, Mescalero Apache, Mexica-Chihimeca, Mexican, Mexican American, Mexicana, Mexika-Chichimeca, Mixed, Mixtec, Multi-Ethnic, Nahua, Native, Nicaraguan, Oaxacan, Oaxaquena, Panamanian, Peruvian, Puerto Rican, Purhepecha descendant, Raza, Salvadoran, Salvadoran American, Salvadoreña, Salvadoreño, SalviMex, Tejanx, Tejano, Wixarika, Xicana, Xicano, Xinanx, and many other identities.


The Highlander Empowerment Referendum helps make the 5th ¡Presente! Conference possible.

¡Presente! Bamby Salcedo on Friday, February 19, 2021


Join us for a conversation with Bamby Salcedo, “Madrina de honor” for the ¡Presente! Conference - un espacio for our QT* community. Bamby is a national and international transgender Latina Woman who completed her master’s degree in Latino/a Studies. Bamby is the President and CEO of the TransLatin@ Coalition, a national organization that focuses on addressing the issues of transgender Latinxs in the US. Bamby has served and participated in many local, national and international organizations and planning groups. This work mediates intersections of race, gender, sexuality, age, social class, HIV+ status, immigration status and more.
